A refreshing interval from the Object+Thought experimental works, the Cuebro summit is a special musical event for the feel-goodieness of summer and intimate hotdogs. Performing is The Love Royale featuring Heather & Matt Larrabee and Kyle Jones (producer of denver breakout band, the Flobots). delivering electric soul with top notes of jazz, r&b, pop, and indie-rock, the band has enjoyed residencies in denver and los angeles clubs and offers sensual and soulful vocals tinged with haunting melodies. Denver is also pleased to receive the arresting voice and song-craft of New York’s Megan Barbera and her much anticipated album Zigzag to the Sea. not to be missed is also Ben Senterfit and his trio. Founder of  Cuebro, Ben has shared a stage with are Bela Fleck, Emmy Lou Harris, Javon Jackson, Michael Franti, and Medeski, Martin, & Wood.

The Biennial of the Americas, an international event that celebrates the culture, ideas and people of the Western Hemisphere, hosted by the City of Denver, kicked off at the MCA right in front of our studio. The MCA opened their largest undertaking to date, Energy Effects. Capsule Gallery sponsored a massive show Objectiphilia representing fourty-four artists.

The street was flooded with hundreds of people, mariachi bands and a cupcake truck, marching bands and a hot dog stand, flame throwing vandergraph generators and battling robots, a 68 Malibu and a pond.

The lower portion of Loophole houses Object+Thought that opened it’s July show Constructive Interference. Constructive Interference is a collaborative performance environment created by Paco Proano and David Fodel, featuring immersive sound and visual experiments by a variety of artists. This show entails five amplified metal panels with projections that respond to audio. The audio is generated by peoples position and activity within the space. For the following  few Thursdays, to coincide with the Biennial of the Americas, we are inviting musicians to play through a combination of traditional amplification and the metal panels.

The premier music event featuring The Playground, Roger Green, and Itchy-O rocked. The lot outside the studio was flooded with 75+ people on a perfect evening. The newcomer to the Object+Thought line-up, Itchy-O, was the most interesting live venue I have seen in the past few months. Keep an eye out for their upcoming material.

Things are gearing up for the fall schedule at Object+Thought. We a partnering with Plus Gallery to host Tom Griesgraber and Bert Lams on Friday, September 4th.
