With the start of the new year, the trademark renewal for LOOPHOLE with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) was approved for continuation over the next ten years.

WHY THE NAME LOOPHOLE?
The discovery of a Loophole requires approaching a problem from different angles to find a perfect solution that overcomes the perceivable challenges.

TRADEMARKING FOR THE START-UP
If you are a start-up, selecting a name is not only a decision driven by launching a striking new brand, unifying company vision, or growing product culture—but a strategic move to establish a name that can be protected and endure any claims.

Loophole cannot provide legal advise (since I do not practice law and I file on my own behalf), but I am glad to share 3 considerations for creating a brand.

1 WORDSMITH
Craft a name that is not a common term in the industry to possess a stronger defense for companies using it in conjunction with the goods and services offered.

2 RESEARCH
Complete the due diligence and search the USPTO database (tess2.uspto.gov) to assure the selected tradename is not operating within the category of goods and services.

3 DEFINE
Write the broadest description of your goods and services to encompass the largest sector of the industry.
